Markéta Pilátová

Czech author and journalist

Markéta Pilátová (1973) was born in the mountainous Moravia area, but has lived mostly in big cities like São Paulo and Prague. She studied Romanist language and literature in Olomouc, was a teacher in Granada and worked as a correspondent in Brazil. In the end she returned to live in Prague, were she now works as chief editor of the prestigious weekly news magazine Respekt.

Her debut Žluté očí vedou domů was published in 2007 and was translated in Dutch as My eyes will lead you home in December 2011. The much praised novel tells a love story that takes place between Prague and Sao Paolo.
